Westfield is a Central Indiana city north of Indianapolis within Hamilton County.  The population estimate in 2019 was 43,649 residents.  Westfield has a total area of 31.07 square miles at an average elevation of 886 feet.  Westfield is approximately 34 miles from the Indianapolis International Airport, and 28 miles from Monument Circle in Downtown Indianapolis

Westfield was founded in 1834 by Asa Bales, Ambrose Osborne, and Simon Moon, all Quakers from North Carolina.  The Quakers settled in Indiana during the late 1700's and early 1800's and had a knack for naming towns after fields, for example Plainfield, Indiana is located not too far away from Westfield!

Westfield was rumored to be a stop on the Underground Railroad, with support from Quaker and Wesleyan churches.  Westfield was incorporated as a town in 1849 and later incorporated as a town in 2008.  The Union High Academy Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Westfield-Washington Schools serves approximately 8,443 students in grades PK-12 and spent an average of $9,462 per student in 2020.  All of Westfield-Washington Schools’ statewide student assessment scores were above the state average in 2019.  Westfield-Washington High School, home of the Shamrocks, has a 98.2% 4-year graduation rate with 59.2% of students earning an Honors diploma.  Westfield is also home to a number of private schools.
